June 2018 Family Newsletter

We are already half way through the year – time is flying by for those that are having fun!

There are some big changes coming up in the childcare industry – we thank you all for your cooperation in transitioning to the new Child Care Subsidy. This has been a challenging process on both sides and we all have to learn how to benefit from it. Parkside has introduced sessional care to help out those families that have limited hours. If you still have any questions about the new CCS please contact the office.

We have been very honoured to be asked to hold several activity stalls at the Centro Mall. Centre management has invited us to organise craft and sensory activities on the opening day for the Big W Toy sale. We had heaps of families with kids come over and learn about Parkside ELC. During the school holidays we will be holding similar activity stands so watch this space!

The weather has been really cold but the children still enjoy going outside and run around without getting sweaty! Please remember to bring in warm clothes (jumpers, socks and enclosed shoes) as the mornings and afternoon get very chilly. Even though it is not hot, we still require children to be dropped off sun blocked and with a hat. Ensure all clothes are labelled with your child’s name – it is difficult for our educators to remember what all personal items of your child look like. All children also need individual water bottles to promote independence and self-help skills.

School holidays are coming up – if you are still looking for care for school aged children please call the office asap. Vacation care is usually limited to 10 spaces a day! If our child is already enrolled for this time please ensure you have signed all relevant permissions for the planned excursions.

We have lots of other events coming up over July 2018. Please see below for more information – it’s gonna be a busy month!

Welcome Miss Shari!

This month we have welcomed our new director Shari Windegaard. Shari has recently moved to Gympie and lives together with her partner and two super cute dachshund puppies. Together with her family she loves going camping, horse riding and going to the park with the dogs.

Shari has come to us from a larger service and looks forward to working together with every family, the wider community, staff and to implement all her ideas she has gained over the years.

Care Subsidy Changes

The changes to the new child care subsidy changes are one week away.

For families to make the most out of their new subsidies we have created a variety of different daily sessions. Talk to the office if these new subsidies will benefit you more.

After discussions with many families we have found that some families have been entitled to more subsidies. Talk to us if you are not sure. We understand in detail how the subsidies work and have created our sessional care options to leverage the most out of your individual entitlements.

We are well placed compared to other Child Care Centres having completed all the necessary steps at this point. As we fully transition to the new child care subsidies there will most likely be issues of some kind. Already in the last week there have been issues on the government side and our software provider. Bare with us as we coordinate with Government, Centrelink, our software provide and families through to completion this Monday.

All families need to have all their activity and confirmation of bookings through MyGov by the end of this week or may be charged full fees from July 2.

Any questions don’t hesitate to contact one of our friendly team members in the office.
